Update - HM Revenue and Customs
Wednesday 7th July 2010
The Directors are delighted to be able to announce that payments have been been made to HM Revenue and Customs in settlement of all the remaining outstanding liabilities for PAYE/NIC and VAT, including those for the current tax year to date. This is a tremendous achievement given the position of the club last September, and our thanks go to all who have provided the funds and hard work which have made this possible, giving the club cause for celebration in its coming 125th anniversary season.
The Board is committed to setting a budget to enable this position to be maintained in the future and ensure that the football club is in existence for at least another 125 years.

Hopefully clubs like Hinckley...
we paid the petition debt, and then we agreed staggered payments for the last year payments which HMRC were happy with. unfortunately this is against Conference rules so every time we make a payment and it's not complete we get hit with the registration embargo - as we currently are now.
them's the rules and we have to work within them, so not going to get Pilley's top london lawyer on the case, afterall the debt is no one elses problem but our own.
I believe we have only a few more payments left.

Great to see a club pay back its debt in full for a change! It must beat losing 10 points in adminitration, then being forced to pay pretty much 100% in line with Conference rules anyway, surely rendering administration a costly (in both respects) waste of time.

Well Done to Hyde. Hopefully clubs like Hinckley and Ilkeston can announce likewise in the very near future...
HINCKLEY United Football Club expects in the next 48 hours to receive monies to pay off outstanding debts to the Inland Revenue and any unpaid players.
This will satisfy requirements laid down by the Football Association, Football Conference and HMRC.
The club will then look forward to the 2010/11 campaign and success both on and off the field.

Fair play, I think some realisation is slowly creeping into the game that controlling costs is here and paying what you owe has to be done. Its the clubs that are bankrolled by a sugar daddy who are probably the ones who will come unstuck in the future as they may not be able to afford to.

Also HMRC are being a lot harder nowadays in negotiations as well.

It appears you only get one bite at the cherry now, rather than the 2 or 3 previously.

We'd more or less had a deal in place with HMRC before Man City came along anyway. City are paying to do the ground up, the only money we are getting off them at the minute is the fee for the reserves/youth team/ academy playing their. The main thing is we're debt free now!
How long before we're back in it is another question :-(

Fair play being debt free, can't imagine to many clubs are in a similar position!
I can think of one, but I don't wanna start the debate that we didn't pay ours off
